ABOUT THE DOMAIN
The prestigious Château Haut-Brion amazes with the number of 1st places it occupies in many situations. Created from 1553 by Jean de Pontac, Haut-Brion was the first Bordeaux wine in history to bear the name of the estate; at one time the wine was sold anonymously. The first château to put into practice techniques that have become essential such as racking or aging in oak barrels, it will be the only classified growth of the Graves appellation in 1855, and reaches the rank of… first. There is no small vintage in Haut-Brion, owned by the Dillon family since 1935. In 1983, the Dillon family bought La Mission Haut-Brion, neighboring Haut-Brion. It is always exciting to compare the wines of the property. In great vintages, it is perfectly capable of aging for several decades. Certain vintages, such as 1961 or 1989, show the incredible potential of Château Haut Brion, which is among the greatest red wines in the world. The property’s second wine, formerly called Bahans, is now called Clarence de Haut-Brion. To find out more, visit the official website of Château Haut-Brion
ABOUT THE CUVÉE
Served at the table of King Charles II of England in 1660, Château Haut-Brion has continued to write history ever since. The blend is composed of 45% Merlot, 44% Cabernet Sauvignon and 9% Cabernet Franc and a touch of Petit Verdot. The harvest is of course carried out manually and several selections of grapes are made throughout the process. The limited yields and a long and careful aging of 22 months in completely new barrels contribute to producing this magnificent wine. Earlier than the other grands crus, Haut Brion develops velvety notes of ripe blackcurrant and mineral of legendary finesse. In great vintages, it is perfectly capable of aging for several decades. Certain vintages, such as 1961 or 1989, show the incredible potential of Château Haut Brion, which is among the greatest red wines in the world.
