ABOUT THE DOMAIN
Nestled in the prestigious Côte de Nuits, Clos de Tart stands out as a true wine exception. Indeed, this parcel of Grand Cru de Morey Saint-Denis, with its eight hectares, is unique in Burgundy, because it has never been divided since its creation in 1141. Under the benevolence of the Mommessin Family since 1932, this vineyard age-old benefits from ancestral know-how. Despite a period during the 20th century when wine did not meet with the expected support of oenophiles, the arrival of Sylvain Pitiot in 1995 as manager marked a decisive turning point. With his incomparable expertise, illustrated by his major works on Burgundy, he was able to enhance the reputation of the estate, by producing vintages of remarkable depth and intensity. The constant evolution towards more earth-friendly methods has seen the estate embrace organic farming, although not certified.
ABOUT THE CUVÉE
La Forge de Tart is a nod to youth, coming from the estate’s most recent vines. This characteristic gives it flexibility and lightness in contrast with the more full-bodied profile of Clos de Tart. Aging in carefully selected pieces for 18 months gives it a well-controlled woody imprint. The olfactory bouquet, dominated by scents of red fruits, is enhanced with floral nuances and a touch of liquorice. On the palate, it is distinguished by a harmony between power and roundness, revealing sublime elegance and a lingering finish. It is a wine that will enhance refined dishes such as red meats, game or even mature cheeses. A wise choice for those seeking a balance between intensity and delicacy.
